Our expertise

The company was founded in 2015 when Luke Sutherland-Stacey, the director, reduced his full-time work commitment and started his own company, Weather Radar New Zealand (WRNZ), to explore using weather radar for urban hydrology applications. Filling the gap that normally exists between research and commercial applications was key for the company development. Since then, our network of collaborators and clients have been growing, and the government funding opportunities in parallel.

“We provide operational short term [0-2 hour] rainfall forecasts for stormwater applications in Auckland and Wellington, and we’re working on a variety of commercial weather radar research and development contracts for national and international clients.” - Luke Sutherland-Stacey.
